Dr. Sen active editorial board member in Neuromolecular Medicine, American Journal of Neuroscience Research, Neurology and Neurotechnology, International Journal of Neurology Research. His research interest on a major barrier to successfully treating cocaine addiction is the high rate of drug relapse that occurs during periods of drug withdrawal. However, to date there are no FDA approved pharmacotherapies to treat cocaine addiction. Behavioral-stimulant effects of cocaine are thought to be initiated by potentiation of the synaptic actions of dopamine and, possibly, serotonin associated with inhibition of neurotransmitter transport. In our laboratory we study the influence of neuro-gasotransmitters like Nitric Oxide (NO), on drug addiction and synaptic plasticity in brain. Our study will provide the framework to design a novel therapeutic strategy to combat against addiction against drug-of-abuse.
