Domínguez Raúl Omar, Vila José Francisco, Bianchi Graciela Ada, Serra Jorge Alberto and Marschoff Enrique

Article Type: Case Series | First Published: 2023/06/24

The diagnosis and severity of Parkinson's disease are established by clinical criteria. The motor manifestations predominate while few are sensory. Initially, treatment includes dopaminergic drugs and/or agonists with good results in the first years. Later symptoms appear requiring different therapeutic strategies. Here, we present the results of a series of patients with late fluctuations treated with monosialo-ganglioside. Seven patients older than 70 years, treated for idiopathic Parkinson's,...

Predicting CGRP-Antagonists Response Based on the Phenotypic Features of Migraine Headaches, a Retrospective Study

The presence of autonomic symptoms in migraine headaches may predict lack of response to CGRP-MABs. This study is limited by the small sample size. However, it is biologically plausible that presence of autonomic features is predictive of a decreased response to CGRP MABs as migraine patients with autonomic symptoms have higher levels of VIP correlated to this, and not CGRP(3). Our study raises the possibility that migraines with autonomic features may be at least in part VIP driven. ...

Comparison of Three Filter Configurations and Their Effect on Muscle and Sensory Action Potential in a Colombian Population: Descriptive Study of Cross-Sectional Temporality

Oscar Castro, Alejandro Molina, Katalina Espinosa, Luz Miriam Leiva, Carlos de los Reyes and Enrique Estevez

Article Type: Original Article | First Published: March 29, 2023

The configuration of the filters influences the components of the compound muscle action potential and the sensory action potential in the nerve conductions of the median nerve. Statistically significant differences in amplitude and duration were found between the three filter configurations. Therefore, we recommend that the filter settings should be included in the nerve conduction reports....

Paresthesia meralgia (MP) is a condition in which there is compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN), with its entrapment. Clinically presents with burning pain and dysesthesia in the anterolateral region of the thigh. Due to the multiple etiological diagnoses different from MP, this review aims to show systemic and non-systemic causes and also explains some tests of the condition. This article is a non-systematic review. All articles used were researched in the public databases ...
