Maha OUDRHIRI, Amina KILI, Laila HESSISSEN, Maria EL KABABRI, Mohamed EL KHORASSANI and Mohamed KHATTAB

Article Type: IMAGE ARTICLE | First Published: June 29, 2019

The clinical examination finds an exophytic mass at the expense of the tongue, measuring 3 by 2 cm in diameter. The mass is of muscular consistency, not painful, deeply indurated extending on the left edge of the tongue with infra-centimeter and sub-mandibular cervical lymphadenopathy. The examination also finds 6 coffee-and-milk spots. A CT scan was immediately performed, showing a lingual process weakly heterogeneously after injection of contrast medium, measuring approximately 35*45 mm locally advanced. The mass was biopsied, which led to the diagnosis of embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma poorly d...

Article Type: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW | First Published: July 25, 2019

The studies retrieved by the above strategies were included if they met the following pre-established criteria. The patients studied had to be diagnosed of osteoporosis (all ages, both sexes), and they had to be taking Dmab. We measured the likelihood of having osteonecrosis of the jaw. We included in the search for systematic reviews randomised clinical trials (RCT) and cohort studies. We excluded articles on cancer or other disease other than osteoporosis, animal and basic science studies....

Madeeha Mian, BA, Annika S Silfvast-Kaiser, MD, So Yeon Paek, MD, Dario Kivelevitch, MD and Alan Menter, MD

The majority of skin conditions are not life-threatening; however, many can be severe and disfiguring enough to devastate a patient's quality of life. Skin diseases can significantly impact not only a patient's physical appearance, but also their social and emotional well-being. Even the smallest skin lesions have been shown to disrupt a person's level of overall wellness. Here, we aim to address the potential psychological and emotional impact of the most common and debilitating dermatologic conditions. We describe how skin disorders affect individuals and subsequently, how they are perceived...

Pregnancy can change the behavior of brain gliomas with increased growth rate, increased frequency of seizures, and anaplastic transformation. Very rarely the presentation may be hyperacute due to intratumoral hemorrhage. We report and discuss them a management of the hemorrhagic infarction of a newly diagnosed postcentral anaplastic astrocytoma in a pregnant woman. A first MRI discovered the glioma; two days later, after acute neurological deterioration, a second MRI showed a dramatic increase in volume with intratumoral hemorrhage, possibly caused by venous thrombosis....

Isabel Loucao Amorim, MD, Linda Azevedo Kauppila, MD, Mariana Reis Costa, MD, Carla Bentes, MD, PhD, and Rita Peralta, MD

Article Type: Case Report | First Published: July 06, 2019

REM sleep behavior disorder shares some clinical similarities with nocturnal epileptic seizures, which can result in misdiagnosis. We report a case of a man with Parkinson Disease diagnosis and parietal and frontal meningiomas who started to have abnormal sleep behaviors, suggestive of REM sleep behavior disorder. Video-polysomnographic showed periodic bilateral occipital epileptiform activity that occurred near arousals, where subtle movements were detected. During REM sleep no loss of atonia nor abnormal behaviors were detected. He was started on antiepileptic drugs, with improvement of the ...

New Pharmacologic Therapy for Hypertension in Pregnancy

Byrne TJ

Article Type: Review Article | First Published: July 03, 2019

There has been virtually no change for three decades in the treatment of hypertension in pregnancy and it's many namesakes: Pre-eclampsia, gestational hypertension, superimposed preeclampsia, gestosis, etc. all of which shall be referred to in the rest of this article as PIH. In part this is because of an incomplete understanding of its physiology and pathophysiology, partly because the only widely accepted treatment, labetalol, does not work well and causes fetal growth restriction. This is a short review of what we know about PIH and normal placental physiology, what we surmise about the dis...
