Note that ESRD includes all patients with ESRD, while ESRD+DM includes only patients with ESRD who have DM documented in their medical record and ESRD-MetS includes only patients with ESRD who did not have DM documented in their chart. Similarly, TJA includes all patients undergoing TJA, while TJA+DM includes only patients with DM documented in their charts and TJA-DM includes only patients undergoing TJA that do not have DM documented.
