Pharmacological treatment history is based on Sackeim and colleagues (1990).

Notes:

(1) M = male, F = female in Gender column;

(2) R = right handed, L = left handed in Handedness column; (3) Education level, coded into 5 categories, according to the Dutch education system (Loozen & Post, 1991): 1 = did not finish secondary school, 2 = finished secondary school, 3 = finished secondary school, medium level, 4 = finished secondary school, highest level and/or college degree, 5 = university degree; (4) Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) scores; (5) Values in serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), serotonin-noradernaline-reuptake inhibitors (SNRI), tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), Lithium, MAO-Inhibitor (Trancylpromine) and Anti-epileptics columns represent number of different medications previously used in each category; (5) ECT = electroconvulsive therapy; SD = standard deviation.
